About Me As A Writer

When looking at my writing though I would like you to know a couple of thing about me that they may not get from my writing samples.  The first thing that I would like my writers to know about me is that I am a straight to the point kind of person, I do not like to dance around a point I am trying to get at.  The other thing that I would like my readers to know about me is that I am a linguistics major. Knowing I am a linguistics major and that I am straightforward will help to you to further understand my portfolio and what I would like you to get out of it, by see the things I have taken advantage of with the internet media type allowing me to be able to present my portfolio in a direct manner and being able to draw from different areas.
I feel being a straightforward kind of person is a tough thing to overcome in academic writing.  The relationship between my straightforwardness and academic writing sometimes is troubling.  I think because my writing that I do for linguistics is straight to the facts to avoid any ambiguity it has made me write in the type of style.  This is one thing that defines me as a writer, I think because it requires me to have to think outside of the box to get to where I need to be for my writing assignments.  Having to write more than what I would need to get my point across is sometimes annoying because it requires me to add a lot of information that sometimes I may not feel is pertinent.   I think my being a straightforward person also has had an influence on my remediation project choice and some of the various blogs I have chosen to look at in blog post.  The reason I believe this is because they are all minimalist design, which I am a fan of for the reasons that they are straightforward and clean looking.  My remediation project shows this well because of the layout that I chose to use being made for being clean looking and simple.  The blogs that I had to post about were also both designed in similar manner to my remediation project, which was actually part of my idea for design.
I would like you to know is that I am a linguistics major. I feel as though this is important for my readers to know about me because it plays a part in how I write and what types of topics I chose to write about.  It also can give some insight into why I write straightforwardly because that is how writing is done in this discipline. For example, my repurposing project and therefore my remediation project I chose because I wanted to learn more about the writing system of futhark, not necessarily because I thought it was a good paper to repurpose and remediate. I learned a fair amount about futhark during this process, such as it was used for many different languages not just specifically one. I think my being a linguistics major also plays a role in the way I write because it is very fact based writing, like how I enjoy to write, and it is also direct so that it is easy to understand and less ambiguous.  This may be part of the reason I like to write more factual base writing such as linguistic things because if you add more to it in some places it can take away from what you are actually writing about and make it ambiguous, therefore my streamlined type of writing helps me with this.
